Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most researched psychotherapy treatment available today and is widely viewed as the gold standard treatment within counseling.

Research suggests that we have anywhere from 6,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day.

When you pair the immense number of thoughts we think daily with the fact that “thinking about thinking” is not something we tend to naturally do on our own, the result is that we are often ruled by automatic thoughts, assumptions, and sometimes irrational beliefs that go unnoticed and unchecked. These unchecked thoughts are often the root of maladaptive behaviors and painful emotions.

Through CBT I can help you:

  • identify the troublesome automatic thoughts and assumptions which trigger painful emotions and unhelpful behaviors
  • begin confronting fears in manageable steps to develop adaptive behaviors which increase confidence and resiliency
  • ultimately develop strategies for helping thoughts, feelings, and behaviors work for you and not against you

CBT is NOT “just thinking positively,” rather it is about learning how to widen your perspective lens through new experiences and new ways of thinking.
